International Spy Museum

With the recent release of Breach, Robert Hanssen is once again in the public eye and the topic of much discussion. The Hanssen case has been called the the worst intelligence disaster in US history. However, while a great deal is known concerning Hanssen spying activities over the twenty two years that he gave classified documents to the USSR and later Russia, the reason behind his betrayal is still shrouded in a great deal of mystery and controversy. Helping to give answers to the daunting task of ‘why,’ The International Spy museum in DC on November 28, 2007 will open a new exibit on Hanssen. This new exibit is from the unique perspective of his friend and longtime collegue David G. Major, who for 14 years worked with Hanssen at FBI headquarters in Washington DC. A privately owned museum, The International Spy Museum is dedicated to the field of espionage. Located in the Penn Quarter neighborhood of Washington, D.C., and about one block west of the Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro station, the museum covers espionioge techniques from the Greek and Roman empires right up to the cold war and today.

San Antonio explodes with arts and culture, history, world-class cuisine and opportunities for fun and romance. A cosmopolitan city, the seventh largest in the United States, San Antonio still captures the independent spirit of Texas, as well as old-world charm. With more than twenty million visitors a year, San Antonio is a crossroads and a meeting place for Texans as well as travelers from all over the United States and the world. San Antonio has just about any attraction or activity that you could want, from historical sights and authentic culture to pro sports and modern theme parks. Home to not only the Alamo, but also to four other Spanish missions, San Antonio is infused with the history and traditions of the past. The River Walk, also known as the Paseo del Rio, provides relaxing entertainment as it meanders through a truly cosmopolitan city. Take a stroll along the river that winds through the center of downtown, and stop in shops and restaurants along the way. San Antonio also fosters great artistic talent, from offbeat galleries to great museums like the McNay, the Witte and the San Antonio Museum of Art. Or, get your thrill at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, and splash around with aquatic friends at SeaWorld San Antonio. San Antonio is also a shopper's paradise. With miles upon miles of outlets, malls, galleries, unique shops and Mexican markets, it's easy to find great gifts or the perfect fit. If you're into local finds, Artisan's Alley, El Mercado, and La Villita offer unique crafts, local art, antiques and south of the border imports. Large shopping centers like the Quarry Market, North Star Mall, Rivercenter Mall and the Shops at La Cantera are also great for finding designer bargains. For a change of pace make sure to stop by and check out the world famous San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs have won four national championships in the NBA since 1973. Playing at the all new AT&T Center the Spurs - as of November 2006 - rank second among active franchises for the highest winning percentage in NBA history. With the 2007 sweep, the Spurs have the highest winning percentage in NBA Finals history. They have only missed the playoffs 4 times as an NBA franchise. Don’t miss an oppertuinity to see history come alive as San Antonio proves to be a crossroads for great achievements both past and present.

As one of the largest states in the Union, Texas, the Lone Star state, is big on tourism and huge on fun. Two thirds of the over 20 million folks who call Texas home live in its major metropolitan cities, like Houston, Dallas, and Austin. Aside from the typical things most big cities have to offer, like great food and exciting nightlife, folks in Houston can also sign up for space camp. In Dallas, nothing beats catching the Dallas Cowboys football team in action during a home game, or witnessing a true cowboy ride a live, bucking bull in a Dallas rodeo. And, in Austin, the city dubbed “Live Music Capital of the World”, there is always a good band playing and many other types of live entertainment, from theater to orchestras. If relaxing by the warm water of the Gulf of Mexico is more your speed, then head down to the state’s hundreds of miles of coastline. Aside from its many small, quaint beach towns, there’s also Corpus Christi, where you can enjoy a delicious seafood meal while watching the boats sail in and out of the harbor past the barrier islands located just off the mainland. Texas also has several water parks and amusement parks, including the famous Six Flags Over Texas. Whatever you decide to do in Texas, you’re bound to have a good time. And, before you leave, there are two things you definitely don’t want to forget, your luggage…and the Alamo.
